    taking off the shoe
If a couple is planning to get married, should the man or woman take of their shoe at the time of engagement to raise it to an act of holiness and to bless the marriage?

      Re: taking off the shoe
There is no need for it during a marriage. The term used for marriage in Jewish law is "kedushin," which comes from the term "kedusah," holiness. This is because the very act and experience of marriage is an act of holiness; marriage in Judaism is holy and sacred.

    A Positive Eulogy
Perhaps the version that I heard will be of interest:

The despised criminal and informer had a son who did his best to out-do his father in hateful deeds, and succeeded. Then the father passed away, and when the needed eulogy was said, it was that "compared to his son, this man was a tzadik!". Years later, when the son passed away, the Rabbi found himself in the same predicament. What would even the father's eulogizer find positive to say about the son?!

Nevertheless, the eulogizer told the Rabbi not to worry, he had everything under control. When the time came to say the eulogy at the funeral, he got up and said: "Only because of the deeds of this man were we able to do the Mitzva of burying the dead, by his father..."

May we all be blessed with only Joy and Happiness, and the coming of Moshiach, Now!

    To Bracha
Please do not use UPPERCASE when writing. In the world of text doing that is considered shouting and rude. We all have an equal voice here and dont need to yell.

    Ramchal
Ramchal bases his whole Kabbalah of Meshichut on this. These are very deep mysteries!

    Holiness
Out of impurity comes holiness. We've seen this over and over again in the Jewish nation.

    Music
Can someone tell me who the choir was singing at the beginning and end of this lecture? It was awesome and so was Rabbi Jacobson. Thank you very much!

      Re: Music
The music is always credited at the end of the video. This song "ILON" is from "Nochum Stark -- A Sefriah Kumzitz".

      Glad you enjoyed.

An Angels power to control which souls descend...
    Reb Yossi,

Fantastic Shiur. A couple of years ago I came across a Drash in Sefer Chida that says that the maaseh with David and Bat Sheva was not considered a Chet since his conception was shrouded in a tremendous amount of Kelipah... Which is the explanation of the Gemara, "Kol Ha'omer David Chata einah ela to'eh."

I cannot figure out the connection between the first part of the shiur and the last part about Boaz taking off the shoe?

Lastly, I think it would be necessary to give a Shiur on the reason for Hashem having to resort to trickery in order to allow certain lofty souls into this world. It seems incomprehensible that a Malach or the Satan in this case has a say regarding which souls could or could not come into this world? So while the shiur in and of itself was enlightening and informative I think this question remains in many minds including my own.

    Thanks,

Dear Rabbi Jacobson, I am a convert planning to convert in Israel. I was born and grew up in Tokyo, one of the capitals of goim. Until I met Chabad Lubavitch at 40, I walked such an egoistic and immoral life. Now every day, I practice major prayers so that I would be able to sing the praises for HaShem as I would cradle my baby. It has been 5 years since I met Chabad. Yet I am still carrying goimic character and customs. I also can not speak Lashon Kodesh, nor can speak Yiddish. The fact that I did not grew up in the traditional Chassidic home has been my great concern. However, as I learned your class, now I think my children can be Mench just like their wonderful father.
