I once heard in one of your shiurim:
One reason why a mother is impur for 80 days for a girl is because a girl has the power to give birth and it's like "double power" for the mother and the daughter that's why it's double tuma.
I would like to know the source of this explanation.

Thank you for your fascinating shiurim !!
    Besorois toivos !

    Ruth
    Bs"d

...So if Ruth's mother ,the Moabite, had not given birth to Ruth...would we then have become a "ruthless" people"

...You call that pressure and pain? Try taking  responsibility for the hospital bill ,a roof, education, food and clothing for the next twenty years! So hernias and going for jalapeno ice cream at midnight with our feeble innate DNA allotment of pain relieving male hormones doesn't count on the same Eternal Scale ?

-from the ancient teaching of the Benveniste Family Book of Humor...1978.

    Offering
    B"H

R' Jacobson - A Chiddush - Compare this offering, the dove, with what Naomi brought back from Moav, Rut as an offering also.  For "Rut," Resh Vav Tav" is Tur (dove) in reverse.  Considered it deeply on a Chassidic Level.

    chates then olah
Lepoiel the Chatos is brought before the Olah
since through the Chatos (lacking void) yearning we reach the Olah uniting with H', that's the cycle ...

this is why its mentioned in torah one way then we acutely do it the other way.

THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE OF TORAH AND AM ISRAEL YOU TRANSMIT
THANK YOU SO MUCH RABBI JACOBSON!
YOU ARE AN "OMAN HATORAH' IF WE CAN USE THIS TERM, AN ARTIST OF A TEACHER, BECAUSE YOU MANAGE TO RENDER THE UNIQUE POSSIBILITY OF THE TORAH LAWS BEING OF GOD'S DESIGN. AS THEY DO WHAT NO HUMAN COULD HAVE FATHOMED TO ELEVATE HIS OWN SPIRITUAL CONDITION. YOU MAGNIFY THE HOLY GENIUS OF TORAH THROUGH WHICH HASHEM EXPRESSES HIS INFINITE LOVE FOR AM ISRAEL.

    hormonal/biological
I find Rabbi Jacobson's explanation for post-partum depression to be very simplistic and it seems to put the woman at faulth, when in fact it is hormonal and completely out of the woman's control.

    humility
I appreciate the humility expressed by Rabbi Jacobson at the start of the class, I have long been unnerved by the arrogance/insensitivity of some men when speaking on anything relating to childbirth.

    Interesting
According to this beautiful explanation we can also mention that during a monthly tumah a lot of women also feel kind of depression and menopause depression also can be understood as a feel of void about loosing reproductive opportunity according to this point. Thank you!

Beautiful insight giving the woman a greater appreciation of childbirth and a more sublime, deeper, divine love for her child, as well as a deeper bond between husband and wife. Thank you!
