  Amalek, one more meaning

  Just wanted to add something. Learned it from Rabbi Pinchas Winston. Letters of the name of amalek can be separated to read "ayn malak" - severed eye. It is something that Rabbi YY alludet to, a sort of cognitive dissonance where a person sees the world not for what it is but for what their trauma/ego tells them it is.

  The Rebbe said the Israeli soldier standing

  With his gun, is misiras nefesh, and at a very high level.

  At that same time many Americans were dodging the draft not to go to Vietnam.

  Also, if it's such a high level, why didn't and don't many of  the religious Yidden serve?

  Amalek is irrational, basis hatred

  And so lately we have the Nazis, ym"S, and Hamas types.

  But the latter groups at least knew of yidden, knew of what to hate.

  What had the yidden done a few days after exiting Mitzrayim to deserve baseless hatred? It was Hashem, not the yidden that brought about the makers, krias yam suf. Mattan Torah,  etc. 

  Also, what dafka did Amalek become the bearers of baseless hatred and not some other nation at the time?
