I listened to program about special needs children with interest re my oldest child (now 50 yrs old) has been in both life share homes and group homes since 1991. My experience has shown that the program director of company makes or breaks how clients are treated. Yahad (yachad.org/reach) is a resource for Jewish community. Sevita Health is very good company (provides care for my son) with locations in several states. MHMRA in Texas has improved care. But it all depends on the service coordinator.

Could it be that Joseph could have had dyslexia, and saw things differently and was extra sensitive and his brothers turned on him because he was different? My son has dyslexia and sensory system sensitivities , diagnosed by a neurologist, he is creative but processes information differently. He is sensitive to sound, crowds and this severely affects if he can eat and what he can eat. His family thinks we tricked the neurologist into the diagnosis because he is “smart ” and we made everything up. My marriage was destroyed, my sons relatives treat him terribly. How can he overcome this, how do we react the way Joseph responded when he was betrayed by his brothers? The wounds are deep.
