Question for Rabbi YY
When a Navi's prophecy is for bad things that will happen and they don't happen, that is not a proof that he is a Navi sheker. because the Navi sityring to get them to do teshuva. IN LechLecha, Hasem tles Avraham, V'avorcha M'vorachecha, i'm'kalelcha a'or - I will bless those that bless you, and I will curse those that curse you, whyis the orderr reversed - A,B and B,A? because is someonewants tobless you, Hashem knows that in advance, sohewillblessthem. But iftheywant tocurse,you, I willnotcurse them until after theycurseyou bcause theymightdoteshuva and changethieerminds beforetheycurseyou, so I aill what to see what they do. Rabbi, I absolutely LOVE all youru amazing words of Torah and the way you present them. I am worried and i wonder, Have i offended you in some way?! The Rambam gives rules for recognizing a true Novi
Based on pesukim in the Chumash.

The Chumash itself was dictated by Hashem to Moshe who wrote it down like a stenographer and taught it to the yidden.

But, when Moshe first appeared on the scene.these laws were not yet given. How did the yidden know at that time that Moshe was a true Novi and to believe him?

Doom and gloom vs. hope
I am not at all knowledgeable about prophets, not at all. But didn't some of the prophets predict doom and gloom? Wish I could give you specifics on why I'm thinking that, but seems in the haftorahs I've read (which I don't easily understand)m seems there were dire predictions, no?

Hashem changed His mind from the negative prediction of the Novi Yonah
This shows that indeed Hashem does and has changed, at least from our time bound earthly point of view.

Has Hashem ever told a Novi a positive thing will happen but changed His mind because the people later sinned?

True or False Prophet
Not so easy to know who is a real or false prophet given the exceptions, the stories, the explanations. Would be nice to have some sort of alrgorithm that goes through all of the narrative provided by Rambam. Something that sorts through it all. hmmm....

The Rebbe said
During the Gulf war that Eretz Yisroel was the safest place. He said that Hurricane Andrew was no problem. He said many, many things which came true. He gave many brochas which materialized. I am unaware of anything he said that did not come true.

Was the Rebbe a Novi?

שלא מצינו שחזר הקב"ה מן הדבר הטוב. אלא בימי יחזקאל גבי והתוית תיו וכו' כמה שכתב הרב לח"מ מסוגיא דשבת דגדול כח התוכחה וכו' כתוב אצלי בדרשותי ופלפלתי כל הצורך בענין מוטב שיהיו שוגגין ואל יהיו מזידין לא ע'ט האסף.

ומאי דסמך הרמב"ם הלכות יסודי התורה להלכות דעות אפשר לומר עפ"י מ"ש הרב כסף משנה במה שהתחיל הרמב"ם ואמר 'יסוד 'היסודות 'ועמוד 'החכמות שכיון הר"מ להתחיל בשם המפורש אלו תוכן דבריו. והשתא נאמר כי על זה סמך יסוד היסודות ועמוד החכמות להלכות דעות לרמוז כי מי שהגיע למדרגה זו להשיג מעלת ידיעת השם המפורש צריך שיתנהג בדעת הרבה פן יכעוס במהרה שמא יהרוג את אחרים בשם ועל זה הזהיר בפרק זה על מידת הכעס כאשר תחזינה עיניך ודוק. ועוד אפשר לומר כמ"ש רז"ל גדולה דעה שניתנה בין שתי אותיות שנא' כי אל דעות ה' נמצא כי נתגדלה מעלת הדעת עד מאד עד שראוי לסמכו לשמו הגדול. עתה זה יהיה כונת רבינו שסמך הלכות דעות ליסוד היסודות ועמוד החכמות שהוא השם הנורא להורות כי מעלת הדעת ראויה להסמיך ולשתף לשמו של הקב"ה כאמור.

עוד אפשר לפרש דמי שתופס בידו יסודי התורה לשמור ולעשות ראוי ליחסו בשם חכם ובעל דעת על דרך כי היא חכמתכם ובינתכם לעיני העמים וזאת היתה כונת רבינו שסמך יסודי התורה להלכות דעות לומר כי בלתי יסוד התורה לא יתכן לתוארו לשום אדם בשם בר דעת כמדובר. אמר הכותב ס"ט עוד אפשר עפ"י מ"ש הרב שבט מוסר ז"ל דלא יאבד עצמו בשחוק קארטי'ן וטאב'לי ודאמ'ה וכיוצא בטענה שהוא לחדד דעתו דהרי עדות ה' נאמנה מחכימת פתי ומקור החכמה ישיג על ידה ודוק

  dear anonymous: most of the listeners to these shiurim are not fluent in Hebrew and so Rabbi translates. Your lengthy hebrew comments are incomprehensible to most. I suggest again that you extract the point you are making and translate into English with references if you wish. It reminds me of the college grad who comes and sits in on a high school class and begins using jargon that is not understood by most.

Yesodey Hatorah question on explanation
Question regarding your explanation of the Rambam that the event with korach was not against nevuas moshe or the torah rather it was other claims is difficult from the following:

The Shelah Hakadosh as well

ל' לצים. קרח שהיה לץ כדאיתא במדרש (תהלים א, טו), אז היה כופר בנבואת משה וכפר בכל התורה כולה וכפר בהקב"ה, כמו שאמרו המקובלים:

אחר שכל מעשה בראשית תלוי ביום שני וקרח החזיק במחלוקת. אמר שם שקרח כפר במעשה בראשית. ולכן אמר משה אחר שהוא מכחיש במעשה בראשית. נתדבק באש של גהינם הקשה הנבראת ביום שני. וא"כ מן ההכרח הוא שיפול בגיהנם וירד שאולה. ולכן אמר שם כי משה במעשה בראשית נסתכל. ולכן אמר וירדו חיים שאולה וכו'. ואחר שזה כן הנה כל הפרשה מפורשה. והספק הגדול מתורץ. ומכאן ואילך אדבר בארשת ואומר כי כבר נודע חטא קרח. ורוב העונות אינם נכרים אלא כפי העונש. כאומרו ולך ה' חסד כי אתה תשלם וכו'. באופן שבזה יכיר חטאו ויודה. וא"כ אחר שקרח ועדתו כפרו במעשה בראשית. וכמו שכתבתי בתחלת הפרשה שחשב שהעולם כמנהגו נוהג. וכפר במצות ציצית ובה' אחד שהוא פתיל תכלת המקשר העולמות כולם. ראוי היה שיד העדים תהיה בו בראשונה. וזה כענין דור המבול שכפרו בבריאת העולם. ולכן היה עונשם והנני משחיתם את הארץ. כן היה ראוי בכאן שהוא כפר במעשה בראשית ובבריאתו שירד לגהינם. והארץ שכפרו בה תפתח את פיה ותבלע אותם. ובזה תבין מה שאמר ואם בריאה יברא ה'. כלומר דבר ידוע הוא שאתה בראת העולם. ואלו האנשים הרשעים כופרים ואומרים שלא בראת העולם. ולכן אם בריאה יברא ה'. כמו שהוא אמת שבראת העולם ופצתה האדמה את פיה ובלעה אותם. בענין שידעו כל העולם כי נאצו האנשים האלה את ה'. אחר שכופרים בבריאת העולם:
