  The maamer compares the travels of water and the neshoma

  But, notice that rainwater is not really the purest water. Rain that falls into a clean kli is not pure, it picks up dirt while falling thru the atmosphere.  So the maamer points out that this rainwater is filtered and purified traveling thru the ground until it comes up in a spring.

  Abd the comparison is made to a neshoma that travels thru life abd gets purified and filtered.

  BUT.. .the neshoma comes from a pure level before it descends unlike the rain.
