  Winston Churchhill's definition of Russia

  Winston Churchhill is quoted as saying that Russia is "a riddle wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma".  It's always amazing to me how the Rabbi is so knowledgable about secular topics, as well as his breadth and depth of Torah knowledge.

  Im listening to part 14 of the maamer reb hillel ... you mention the koor habrazel the crucible i wanted to point out that in a crucible whatever u put inside and apply teh heat to never comes out the same ..  the heat applied to the contents make the atoms so confused that when they cool down they are not the same as they were before .. never mind the shape .. the other thing is that if u throw in metal from diff sources the crucible breaks them all down in heat that they all melt and mould into each other similar to miksha ... just thought id point this out

   

  i listen to all of ur shiurim in chassidus .. if i fall behind i always catch up and i appreciate them so much and appreciate what they have taught me .. i try to use what ive learnt to uplift my life and my relationships in a real and positive way and i want to express my appreciation to you for your efforts my hashem bless you to continue to bring mayanos chutzah

  Some ideas that don't fit, don't enter

  The point was made that some students cannot accept new ideas that don't fit into preconceived  ideas,  beliefs, or conduct.  We have a term called "Cognitive Dissonance." Not the best students. Not ready to  grow. Lazy in a  way. Especially older students.

  Perhaps this is why even the best arguments or proofs or shiurim trying to convince the students about Hashem, the Torah and  yiddishkeit, don't penetrate for 99% of listeners. You really need to be open to newness.

  How would we explain the Gemarah:

  ראה אדם שיסורים באים עליו יפשפש במעשיו 

  Like someone mentioned at the shiur. It is bothering me.

  As well, wouldn't the story of איוב be a good proof that it's not about מידת הדין?
