  You prepared an excellent source sheet on an essential topic.  More and more we see the beauty of chassidut uniting all apsects of the Pardes of Toah and helping people's lives.  This is very timely given the fact that I am a chatan due to marry in two weeks (thank you for your virtual mazal tov you are delivering now).
  
  
  
  We see from your shiur how out of the destruction of the holocaust we came back more determined than ever, like a cat with nine lives.  We are simply invincible.  Not because we have an amazing IDF who b'H" do amazing things and protect us every single day risking their lives on the soul-level of yechida, but because of the G-dly spark that rests within each one of us, the חלק אלקה ממעל ממש that can allow no subsitute for achievement.  After you unusually quoted the Vilna Gaon I will also unusually quote R' Yosef Weinberg (Frameworks Bereishis) in an essay entitled Jews and Traitors where he writes:-

  There is a long letter from the Lubavitcher Rebbe to a widow where he says just that, that her husband in heaven would want her to remmary so can she live happier life down here. when you care for someone, you want them to be happy and not lonely. the connection they have will not be destroyed by her remarrying.

  why do you say that after one spouse goes to the next world the other spouse wants them to be happy and does not mind if they remarry? That does not sound right because the other soul would want to remain with their spouse in the next world and not sever that relationship. In the Talmud there are stories of rabbonim who tried to marry the widows of certain rabbonim who passed away and the women refused to marry again.

  Correction: I asked on Rashi but it was the Gemora...anyway, the explanation I got in shul this morning was that in the entire story there is no indication of a transaction other than when Avrohom says Kach and it never mentions any kinyan and only later does it say "asher Kono..." which indicated that there had to be a kinyan somewhere...I thought the pshat might be that he says to Efron Kach MiMeni, meaning be koneh this money from me as consideration etc...
  Either way, I look forward to this weeks shiur...for the first time in my life I have something to give over and I dont feel like a am ha-arets...

  “אינו חושש אלא שמוצא לשון קיחה, אע"ג דלא דמי, דקיחה דהכא קיימא אכסף של שדה, וקיחה דאשה לא קיימא אכסף של אשה אלא אאשה עצמה".
  
  
  
  In other words, what is important is, that the term “kicha” is used in both cases, hence we apply the facts of one, in the other case as well. How we apply it is based on the logical circumstances. By Abraham, he was getting the field, so he gave the money. By marriage, the husband is “acquiring” a wife, so he gives her money.
  
  
  
  The law is not derived from the sentence structure “ki yikach eish eisha,” but from the fact that the term “yikach” is employed in this verse, as it is in the second verse.

  This niggun was taught to my class by Rabbi YY Lospker A"H, an uncle of, Yibadel L'chaim Tovim V'aruchim, Rabbi YY Jacobson. He told us that when he first heard it by a farbrengen with the Rebbe in 770, he and his friends did not go to sleep that night until after listening to the recording over and over until they knew it perfectly. Sung during the time of the 3rd Chabad Rebbe, The Tzemach Tzedek, it is named "The Fartiger", meaning the finished one, or the ready one, referring to, and expressing the feelings of, one who has after tremendous ongoing effort, accomplished ones divine mission/service in life.
  
  
  
  This Niggun, if I may add, is quite fitting for one to sing after accomplishing the "plowing of the animal "soul/ego" and reaching the sublime level of eternal soul connection, as expounded upon in the Rabbi's brilliant and profound presentation. Yasher Koach!

    Thank you so much. Yes this melody is attributed either to the Tzemach Tzedek himself (the third Chabad Rebbe, 1789-1866), or to his students. I recall that once the Lubavitcher Rebbe asked that they sing a song of the Tzemach Tzedek without words, and this was the melody chosen.

  Perhaps another source to add to interpretation #3 -- Paaneach Raza explains Avraham purchased 600,000 amos for 600,000 neshamos. Likewise each marriage is not just a private affair, it has significance for all of Klal Yisroel.
