    YU vs Zak

The mamar is about the ability to balance spiritual and physical, not escaping either. But still there is a big difference between YU's approach, for example, and Chabads approach, expressed in the mamar. Could the Rabbi elaborate?

    Question for Rabbi YY

Could it be then, that "mayim tachtonim", the chait aitz hadads, the chet h'egel, the broken luchos, the barren imahos, all our troubles that cause us to daven and beseech, even golus itself are all connected? I.e. that if it was all fine, no teshuva or beseeching would be needed, and that is what He desires.

We know that water evaporates and rises upwards ( The gemara in Taanis 9b mentions this as well:

-תניא ר' אליעזר אומר כל העולם כולו ממימי אוקיינוס הוא שותה שנאמר ואד יעלה מן הארץ והשקה את כל פני האדמה

    and rashi explains

ממימי אוקיינוס. כלומר ממים של מטה ולא ממים של מעלה שנאמר ואד יעלה מן הארץ ששתה בארץ ועלה)

This represents the idea brought here that the waters below have a desire to rise above, however, this is only accomplished through bitul

When we practice this balance of chesed and gevurah then we can be zoche to the gishmey bracha (rain) which is the revelation of Giluy Elokus in this world.

for water to "rise up", it must first become vapor, i.e. mivatell itself. Only then as vapor can it return as rain

The waters were wobbly and then there was a scream representing the gevurah that strenghthens the elyonim and the chesed so too machlokes is neceesssary to strengthen chesed like it strengthened the kehunah of aharon.

    Murderer or Shochet?

A person with the G-dly given nature towards bloodshed, can choose to  become a  murderer or  a  shochet.

Healing the Split between Chabad and Poilish

One of the nice new prints of Noam Elimelech has a footnote stating that the Admorei Chabad have an "arichus" on the topic of Korach and heavens split. I grew up in both circles (Chabad and Poilish) and it's really nice to see the two connect via this vort. Thank you Tzemach Tzedek, and thank you to all following rebbeim for continuing the discussion.

    Re; מחלוקת

I heard a good vort, why do we say under the Chupan  הרי את מקודשת לי כדת משה וישראל it should say כדת משה והקב״ה. We wish the new couple that their life should be like the Jews and moshe in the midbar even though they argued for 40 years they stuck together, we might not agree but we can live together and go through the מדבר of life.

You see the machlokes can be good and brings love -from beis shammai and hillel that they had a machlokes leshem shamayim and it was niskayem and and chazal said they had tremendous love for each other.

    Question for Rabbi YY

Not exactly connected to the maamer, but: How could Moshe say to Hashem "let a new creation occur to punish Korach" when Pirke avos says the mouth to swallow Korach waa created among other items late that first Friday? Also, whereas there is the general conundrum that "all is foreseen by the Omniscient, yet free choice is given", yet here the Omniscient One has made it known in Torah She'baal peh what his choice thousands of years later would be; and more than that: what his punishment for that would be? Where was Korach's free choice if his choice was already publicized and his punishment dictated?

How do we understand the fact that chazal say korach was an apiokores and he said torah is not from shamayim and he was kofer in nevuas moshe fit with the approach we have been discussing which says he was right it was just at the wrong time?

The entire Korach incident and your three previous shiurim on this really got me. What you said about Korach being 100% right and then 100% wrong How can a person be 100% right and 100% wrong at the same time?

This is what I got out of it, that in order to get to Gevurah you have to go through Chesed and that Korach wanted to go straight to gevurah without any Chesed. And also that in the end Gevuara will "rule", but maybe the Gevura will be in a Chesed kind of way.? Ithink I made that up. Not sure that you actually said that.

Also, everything you said about Gd being concealed (gashmius in the world we live) and revealed (ruchmious in the world above) and which really is the more connected place with Hashem was new. Always thought it was the above world we should be strivign to connect with, although I do realize that connection to the mundane in this world is something we also strive for. You (and the Alter Rebbe and the Rebbe) saying that it could very well be here below where there is more of a connection is different than I've heard before. Iif yes, that is beautiful to me, but who thinks that? Is it a common perspective?

Also the part about that now we are "ready for a new story". I suppose you mean a new approach? A new way to look at what connection means? And yet, is it really new? Didn't the Rebbe get these ideas from his studies, from his father in law, from the previous Rebbes, and the Alter Rebbe and even before them?

I'm looking forward to tomorrow morning so I can hear the rest of maamer. The Korach story and the commentary for the last three sessions have been hard to process.

Rgardless, these last three sessions have given me a great deal to process and think about.
