    The deeper meaning of shoes

The deeper meaning of shoes perhaps also explained as the reason given by Abba Chilkiya, as to why when walking on dry ground he took off his shoes (or sandals) and when he traversed a body of water he put them on.

Really? We are supposed to get down on ourselves like that? I thought this would only lead us to depression which is dangerous on its own. I get it - its just on our yetzer hara- but to get really down on oursleves? With the stick?

Usually we want to stay positive-
