My Money Vs. My Body: Likkutei Sichos Shoftim

The Distinction in Halacha Between Our Ownership over Our Bodies Vs. Our Finances

1 hr 31 min

Class Summary:

This class, in Likkutei Sichos vol. 24 Shoftim, was given in Evergreen Estates, in the summer of 2014-5774. It explores the Halachik distinction between one's body and one's money. Why is it that I can obligate myself to pay money based on my admission, but not to receive a bodily punishment based on my confession? Why is it that we have to make blessing before we eat, but not before we receive money? When does G-d maintain His ownership over the universe, and when does He “transfer” it to man?

    Giving it back to G-d

What an eye-opener! Despite having learned numerous times about the sanctity of a Jew's body, I didn't realize just how deep this concept goes... It touched me so much and become a powerful tool in my quest to overcome some addictions that are harmful to my body. Thank you!
