      Re: Shlomis and her Son
      Menachem,

Thank you for an excellent observation.

      The answers in brief:

      Regarding question one:

Our focus here is, not what is the status of Shlomis Bas Divri whether she did Tshuva or not, (especially as this was an accident), or whether she was a fine person or not – rather, our issue here is: “why does the Torah publicize a “negative” action of a person, which reflects poorly on that person”?

The answer is, briefly: This “negative” action caused an unbelievably extraordinary “positive” reaction, and according to the system of “Zdonos Naasu lo kezochiyus” - the negative turns into a positive, and this can be accomplished either through Teshuva (meumka deliba), or by the mere fact that the reaction turns out to be a positive one.

Therefore, in essence, the Torah is publicizing a positive action.

(Just like “Tzoraas” (a negative) is a sign that the person is a Tzadik of the highest level; just like “demolition” is part of the “building” process etc. as explained at length in the class).

So whether she did Tshuva or not - is irrelevant to our topic in question. [Actually the question should be did she have to do Tshuva, as this was an accident…]

      Regarding question two:

The reason why Hashem tells us the Story of the “Ben Isha Yisraelis” is to let us know the laws of when someone R”L curses Hashem. Some laws in Torah were told directly by Hashem to Moshe and some (positive and negative) were given as a reaction to a story (Pesach Sheni, Bnos Zlofchod, Mekoshesh Eitzim, Korach etc.). By the way – you see that the Torah does not mention his name.

Thank you for your questions and Hatzlocho Rabo in all your endeavors!

      Rabbi Levi Y. Garelik
