Interesting thought, when it came to the famine, there was no difference in the children of Abraham, G-d fed them all.
When it came to fulfilling G-d's promise and the work of the sanctuary, the work was given to israel.

Why, you ask?
Why, you ask? Because G-d sent Joseph ahead to prepare the way yo save his brothers who chose sin instead of the ways of G-d to save them. No, they did not deserve to be saved, and their families paid a price for the wrong doing as slaves, but in the end, Joseph was the vessel of G-d that not only saved his brothers, but Ishmael, his half-brothers who hated him.
