    Someone commented...

Wow such beautiful connections of patriarchs and it shows such a humility and humbleness of these great influencing people in Jewish history. And antisemites say Jews are racists and full of pride because they say we are chosen people, little do they know that Jews are chosen for their humility and responsibility towards HaShem.
So much better then other Abrahamic religions where Horses and swords are the weapon to influence. But Jewish traditions says Donkey which represents humility humbleness and transformation through discipline and not show off or power. though the donkey might have much deeper strength and power to be the vessel of transportation

The donkey of Avraham, Moshe and Moshiach

Merely carry wood and people.  This is the normal job of a donkey.  Sure, there was a miraculous element that this donkey lived a long time (like others in Chumash).

But.. .the donkey of Bilaam was more miraculous in that it could see angels, protect its master from them and then could speak!

Earlier redemption are the template for later ones

Even the donkey of the Akeida, assuming it had redemptive qualities though it carried wood TOWARDS the Akeida, not back from it, perhaps wasn't the first.

Sarah was help captive by Pharoah. She was redeemed.  Upon which animal did she exit Mitzrayim?

Why were Tziporah and his sons on the donkey?

Tziporah had just given birth to the second son.  In fact he hadn't had his bris yet.

Moshe kept the whole Torah like the Avos including bris.  But, the general mitzvah (kept before Mattan Torah) of bris was overriden by the explicit and specific command to go. [The bris performed after they stopped at an inn and the snake almost killed Moshe but Tziporah saved the day by performing the bris].

Ergo, Tziporah was a kimpiturin and the baby was days old. Its only derrch erertz to put such fragile people on a donkey and not to walk.

"Send the one who will complete the job"

Sometimes one person initiates the job, does most of it but another completes it. (Credit goes to the closer?)

In sales,  lehavdil, one salesman makes most of the deal but there is a specialist known as a closer.  In baseball,  double Leadville, one pitcher starts but often another "closes"!

Moshe might have closed and brought the yidden into Cnaan, but for her (slight) aveirah.  This shows that even Moshe Rabbenu had free choice and could sin.

"Aaron is older. Let him be the leader"

The Lubavitcher Rebbe could have said the same!

    The donkey of redemption?

But the donkey at the Akeida was carrying the wood for the Korban, not a redemption at all  but part of the directive to offer Yitzchak as a Korban.  This was known only to Avraham. And Avraham was determined to carry out the command to offer up his son as a Korban,  hardly a redemption.  Yitzchak and Eliezer had no clue about that command so to them it was also no donkey of redemption.

If anything, the ram caught in the bush was the redemptive animal.

    So did Moshe know

about the specialness (a word?) of this donkey in relation to the redemption? And that is why he picked this unique donkey to put his family on?

Seems that your explanation is that Moshe did know because of the conversation he had with GD and that is one of the reasons Moshe accepted the job?

It's one miracle that the donkey lived 400 years and

Another: how did this donkey get from wherever Avraham left him after the Akeida to Midian a distance of hundreds of miles?

Clearly this is a multi-miraculous donkey.

    "THE donkey....."

General question on Rashi: The Era of prophecy was long over by the time of Rashi. How does he state with certitude anything like which donkey this was or anything else requiring prophecy and not mere logic to explain pshat of the posuk?

Maybe it was THE donkey that Yisro gave him as a going away gift?

Hashem doesn't make miracles for nothing. What would be wrong if there were different donkeys for the Akeida, for Moshe and for Moshiach? What is gained by having the same donkey and have a miracle that this donkey lived hundreds and thousands of years? Where is this donkey today if it's waiting for Moshiach?
