moshe feeling guilty
why did moshe feel guilty? did it have anything to do with his forgetting the halacha? or with his marrying a midyonite?

If one's birth is a sign from Hashem that the world needs this soul down here
Can it be that death, like the explanation of death by plague, is a sign that one's avoda down here is over and they are no longer needed down here?

Moshe Rabbenu doesn't do things on his own?
Didn't he add an extra day before Mattan Torah?

Did Moshe ever
realize that it was GD who decided and wanted Pinchas to rise to the occassion rather than Moshe? And that maybe it really wasn't Moshe's fault or negligence or whatever he thought he failed at? I guess i'm asking because I'm trying to figure out for our own lives how to understand what happens to us and whether we are at fault, negligent or is it just the way and what GD wants.

A shepherd must ALSO be responsible for death by plague
Because the pandemic waa not for no reason but came about as a result of moral failure of the yidden for which he WAS responsible.

Did Moshe Rabbenu really forget such an important law
Or did he have to RECUSE himself because he had married a Midianite woman? . Surely he also knew the answer that he had married her before Mattan Torah when it wasn't forbidden? Perhaps he felt guilty because he also kept the Torah before it was given just like the Avos? We see that Moshe Rabbenu kept the mitzvah of bris for his sons before Mattan Torah and was punished when almost swallowed and killed by the snake for not doing so on his way to Mitzrayim.

A shepherd IS responsible for an attack by wolves but NOT
responsible for a plague that kills sheep?
Wasn't there some sort of vaccine for a pandemic to prevent death by pandemic? Was Moshe Rabbenu an anti-vaxxer?
השיבו לתגובה זו.סמן את התגובה הזו.
Dr. Aharon Faiman -3 שנים לִפנֵי
An anti-vaxxer is a rare person. Most people are not against vaccines, they simply want accountability from the manufacturers for damages, want safety and believe in free choice about what one has or does not have injected or forced into their body. Anti-vaxxer is a label to delegitimize people's opinions and knowledge quickly and efficiently.

Hashem orders a census after the plague but not after the death penalty given by the court
Perhaps the order to count the survivors of the plague but not the survivors after the death penalty was administered is because the order from Hashem was given AFTER the plague but BEFORE the court cases and execution by the 88,000 judges. Such a huge number of court cases must have taken time after all.

"Military tribunals" are very quick and efficient. With Hashem's help also I'm sure the hearings went very quickly.

88,000 judges killed 176,000 idolators
Why does the Rebbe not say the number 176,000 but says MORE THAN 170,000?

Why have a post-plague count anyway,
Hashem knew, and Moshe Rabbenu knew how many yidden there were BEFORE the plague and also how many died in the plague.
Just take the number BEFORE the plague and subtract the number who died, A minus B equals C. And by simple subtraction we know how many yidden there are after the plague.

Moshe Rabbenu didn't initiate a count after the plague
And the Owner of the flock, Hashem must order a counting. It seems like a failure of Moshe Rabbenu not to order a count and so the Owner must order a count.
Notice this failure comes right after another failure of Moshe Rabbenu, his inability to act and his forgetting of the law, where action was required necessitating Pinchas to step up

24,000 yidden out of approximately 3 million is a relatively small percentage
Yet, when 80% of the yidden died in the plague of darkness because they didn't really want to leave America, er, Mitzrayim, we don't see that Hashem ordered a count.

And there are many more times in the Chumash (and Nach) that many yidden died as a result of a plague, a war, etc., and we don't see a census being ordered

It cannot be a mere coincidence that 24,000
Yidden died of the plague after the tragedy with Moav and exactly 24,000 students of R. Akiva that died because of their intolerance.

Hashem counts the yidden frequently(albeit indircctly)
Yet, we are accustomed NOT to count yidden. We don't count directly for a minyan. We don't count our children or grandchildren.
Why does Hashem need to count yidden directly or indirectly? He surely knows exactly how many yidden there are just like He knows how many fish are in the sea?
Rather there must be a lesson here for us.

What happened to Moshe Rabbenu?
When he first emerged from the palace and saw an Egytian beating a yid, he acted . When he was watching the sheep of Yisro and one ran away, he chased down the sheep and rescued it. Hashem was watching.
Yet, when there was a public defiance of the laws given by Hashem by Kozbi and her paramour, Moshe Rabbenu freezes. He forgot the law and doesn't act.
What happened to Moshe Rabbenu?

Because Moshe he himself also married Midian wife which during that time there's no such law and when Zimri questioned Moshe, that's why he couldn't answer. And according to Halakha when you have the highest authority there, others can't answer to that question.
This is my understanding, Correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks
