Totally agree with above comment. I just listend to this. I'm not sure if/how Rabbi YY answered the 3 questions he began with? He didn't seem to tie it all together. Why did Yakov say those two children who were born before he came to Egypt are his children rather than his grandchildren?

Amazing!
I am simply speechless, but I am smart enough to acknowledge it.

From trauma to transformation
As I was listening to this lecture, the thought came to mind that perhaps we as a people have no clue yet of the spiritual power that it took to carry on after the Shoa...not sure about step two yet but certainly there is evidence that many survivors were able to go through step one. Thank you for this insightful lecture.

The way I understood it, (rabbi correct me if I am wrong)
Yaakov know what Yosef know and understood the reasons for Yosef naming his kids Menashe and Ephraim. But by putting his right hand on Ephraim he showed that the GOAL is to reach Ephraim, fully understanding that the way to get there is through Menashe.

Good afternoon from Manchester, UK
I thoroughly enjoyed the shiur I have just listened to on the subject of the two golus yidden – Menashe and Efraim.
As an aside, Rav Yaakov Kamenetzki in Emes Leyakoiv has almost the same thesis as you brought from The Lubavitcher Rebbe. (this is not the first time I have across the same idea from Rav Yaakov and the Rebbe)
If you look inside around the middle of his essay, starting with the words ‘Ve’efshar shezehu goram…’ it’s amazing how he wonders whether that is why Efraim tried to leave Egypt early and led to the episode of the valley of dry bones. It fits in so well with how the Rebbe explained it. If you only have Efraim, then they cannot withstand the time when the goyim turn against them.
I thoroughly enjoy listening to your shiurim. The shiur on Toras Ohr in relation to Yosef and Yehuda (parshas vayigash) is emes le’amito shel torah and it’s amazing how it links everything from creation of the world to Yemois haMoshiach.
