Answers to Curriculum Questions
1. What are the four approaches as to what is the quintessence of Judaism?
a. .” Shma Yesroel” encompasses oneness of our diversity, study Torah and, as such, contribute to Philosophy of mankind. That’s why we have to believe, that different community of Jews as well as each single Jew, no matter how far their approach and principals are have G-dliness embedded in them.
b. .”Love your fellow as yourself” correlates to Tzadaka and Sociology. It implies that we have not only tolerate and accept difference among Jews but love (understand and embrace) foreigners among us.
c. . .”G-d said to Moses: I will show you the sanctuary and you will build it…”
“Human being was created in Divine image” . It may be referred to act of loving kindness and Psychology. May be it can tell us that there is no flaw in another person that make him or her diminished or insignificant. So we have to respect every Jew. Meditate on status of a thief ...
d.. “One sheep you shall offer in the morning and the second sheep in the afternoon” is a general mission statement of serving G-d, that encompasses all that above with action that can bring fruits only through consistency. Practice, practice and practice: even if it is hard to embrace, for example, a lesbian Jew, or a pro-Palestine Jew, or somebody, whom your nature reject because of difference in lifestyle accept, have compassion and love. Think that he or she was created for a purpose and there is no such thing as a small Jew. Meditate on the idea of big tzimtzum and that we don\'t know what picture G-d have in his mind, but it should be very very awesome.
2. Why is Shimon ben Pazi’s approach the winner? Does it really include the other three opinions? Explain:
I think I have done with this. One thin I can add that my Mentor like to repeat that installation doesn’t cost as much as maintenance.
3. Would you describe yourself as a consistent person?
I don’t know. May be consistency is too boring.
Do you have consistency in your life?
Yes, I know what I constantly hate: be an object of manipulation, listen to rumors about anybody, antonym’s delation, false gloss, artificial flowers and when my favorite food has to be consumed for its “nutritional benefits”.
4. In what areas of your life do you find it hard to keep a routine schedule?
Cleaning small spots in the kitchen, keep my books and papers in order, memorize names and data that I don’t see significant, time due commitments, format or shape over content.
Why?
Because life is too short for such a small details.
Are you a moody person?
Yes, I am. That’s why I can be dangerous in traffic.
When you get into a “mood,” do you abandon your responsibilities and inner calling?
When I get into a “mood” I can make a crash.
What can you do to fix that?
Avoid driving in a “mood”.
5. What can you do to add consistency to your life?
Complete the test of my life and become a nurse.
What do you need to avoid?
Avoid driving in a “mood”.
Reflections
Rabbi Jacobson, thank you for keeping my brain in shape, at least once a week.
I had two associations to your words here. One is to another shiur you gave where you contrasted nationalistic "continuity of Judaism" and loving Jews to reaching out to one Jewish neighbor.
Secondly, the emphasis on "doing" seems similar to what the Rebbe promulgated -- all the campaigns -- lighting candles, tsedakah, with a pushke connected to the wall, the pesukim the children recite, and so on. Also, seemingly "little" everyday mitzvos that the Rebbe had us envelop our day.
Thank you again.
Thank you Rabbi!
i second all the thanks and more........

thank you
And thank you SO much, every week, to Eda and David Schottenstein for sponsoring this webcast. May you all be blessed with all blessings, and always be in the position to give and enrich others\' lives the world over.
Al Raglov
I missed the answer to the question of why he had to stand when making the statement.
I would appreciate if you could answer it here in writing.
Thank you again
Answer to Question
another point may be, while the other verses deal with the mind and heart, this one deals with the "legs." it is about action, getting thigs done, the consistency of the leg rather than the sophistication of the mind. the consistenchy of the "foot" soldier. hence he stood up on his legs! the leg representing the determination and commitement rather than the sophistication.
this really helped
Thank you so much. I am so heartbroken over the loss of Leiby Kletzky A"H HY"D. I think he and his family are the essence of what means, consistency. Ordinary people with extraordinary commitment.
In this sense, Leiby is the entire Torah. A genuine activist on the front line. A pure, holy, boy whose entire life encapsulated the meaning of ordinary consistency.
Thank you, this is the first sense of nechama I have heard.
